Choosing a Barcode Scanner

Artsystems has used Symbol scanners, as a specific example of an older model: LS1902T-1000. Any traditional 1D barcode scanner can work as the methodology has remained the same over time.

Note: Artsystems does not use 2D/QR codes, so it is unnecessary to purchase these for Artsystem's use alone.

Barcode scanners usually do not come with software. Rather, they may come with or require 'drivers' to communicate with the computer, just like a new printer, mouse, or camera.

Barcode scanners are like a keyboard in that they are simply an input device and through them text will appear wherever your mouse cursor is active on the screen when you scan a valid barcode.

Conversely, barcode scanners are different than keyboards in that they do just one thing, scan a series of formatted bars while keyboards have many buttons that can each individually or together command the computer to do something including type numbers.
