System Requirements

Artsystems SoftwarE AND SERVICES


Note: Artsystems Pro and StudioPro run native on Mac or Windows, and are cross platform (for mixed networks). Artsystems Collections and Studio require a Windows operating system for Mac or Windows.


ARTSYSTEMS PRO FOR MACINTOSH

Minimum Workstation Requirements:

  • OSX 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, or 10.8 (Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion.
  • Intel Mac only — no Power PC (G3/G4/G5) computers
  • 4 GB RAM. Workstations regularly running other resource-intensive applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc., require at least 8 GB of RAM, if not 16 GB.
  • Microsoft Word 2004, 2008, or 2011 (Integration with Word 2011 may require Snow Leopard+)
  • ~5 Mbps (download) Broadband Internet (if running with Cloud connection)
  • Access to and utilization of a regularly-scheduled working and validated system of backing up data to external media or to an online service. Customers please contact Artsystems Support for additional Pro backup requirements.

ARTSYSTEMS PRO FOR windows

Customers with fewer than 5,000 work records may follow these requirements for satisfactory performance. Customers with more than 5,000 work records should follow the Recommended Workstation Requirements in the next section. Please note that additional RAM and a faster processor will only improve performance.

  • Windows XP Professional, Vista Business, or Windows 7 or 8 Professional or Enterprise (Windows 8 desktop mode only). (Note: some complex Unicode fonts such as some Chinese characters may not display or print properly in one or more areas in Pro or other applications running on Windows XP Professional).
  • 4 GB RAM. 2+ GHz Intel Dual Core 2 processor or AMD equivalent. Workstations regularly running additional resource-intensive applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc., require at least 8 GB of RAM, if not 16 GB.
  • ~5 Mbps (download) Broadband Internet (if running with Cloud connection)
  • Microsoft Word 2003, 2007, or 2010.
  • For optional Artsystems Cloud Sync: Workstation and server hard drives must be formatted as NTFS and not FAT32. 10 Mbps (download) Broadband Internet.

  • For optional Artsystems Cloud Sync: Workstation and server hard drives must be formatted as NTFS and not FAT32. ~5 Mbps (download) Broadband Internet.
  • Access to and utilization of a regularly-scheduled working and validated system of backing up data to external media or to an online service.

  • 16+ GB of RAM (more RAM for better performance and/or larger organizations [more than 4 or 5 users]).
  • 250 GB HD (or 100 GB available)
  • Gigabit Ethernet (cards, routers, switches, Cat 5e, 6, or 7 cabling)
  • For optional Artsystems Cloud Sync: Workstation and server hard drives must be formatted as NTFS and not FAT32. 10-20 Mbps (download) Broadband Internet.

ARTSYSTEMS GALLERYPRO, STUDIO, COLLECTIONS FOR WINDOWS

GalleryPro, Collections, Studio for Windows minimum: 266 MHz Pentium II PC, 256 MB RAM (your choice of OS may require system upgrades beyond this bare minimum). Supported on following OS: Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista* Ultimate, Windows Vista* Business, Windows Vista* Home Premium (stand-alone only), Windows 7 Home Premium (home networks only), Windows 7 Professional. Access to and utilization of a regularly-scheduled working and validated system of backing up data to external media or to an online service.

GalleryPro, Collections, Studio for Windows recommended: 1 GHz Intel Dual Core 2 processor or AMD equivalent, 1+ GB RAM, CD-RW. Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista* Business, or Windows 7 Professional. Access to and utilization of a regularly-scheduled working and validated system of backing up data to external media or to an online service.

Windows 64-bit Operating Systems: Artsystems software is supported on 64-bit versions of the minimum and recommended operating systems listed above, including Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2011. However, GalleryPro is not currently supported for Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008. Please see our 'How-To' FAQs for tips on configuration of Artsystems software for 64-bit computers.

Windows OS not supported (may not operate): Windows Small Business Server 2008 (64 bit) (GalleryPro only), Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Premium (business networks), Vista Home Basic, Vista Home Premium (networks), XP Home, 95, 98, or ME. Go to the Windows 7 Upgrade Web page for an upgrade if needed.

ARTSYSTEMS GALLERYPRO, STUDIO, COLLECTIONS (MACINTOSH USERS)

For Intel Mac owners who wish to run GalleryPro, Studio, or Collections, there are two inexpensive items to purchase, and two extra steps involved in the installation:

  1. Install one of these Apple-recommended software packages, which allow running of Artsystems software at Mac-native speeds. Please see the system requirements for each product:
  2. Install Windows XP Pro or Windows 7 Professional.
  3. Install Artsystems software

Each step is automated and straightforward, but Artsystems Support will assist new software customers with their original installation and configuration (via telephone and Internet). Please see our FAQs for tips on running on Intel Macs via Parallels or VMware.

Note: Parallels Desktop and VMWare Fusion enables Artsystems software to run just as fast and alongside native Mac software, share the desktop, and launch from its 'dock'.

GalleryPro Link to QuickBooks Pro/Premier

Artsystems GalleryPro and QuickBooks Pro or Premier 2003+ for Windows are required. Linking QuickBooks Pro or Premier 2009+ with GalleryPro requires purchase of an additional utility for the particular QB version (good for previous versions) from Artsystems. See our Pricing page for details. NOTE: QB Pro and Premier 2011+ do not allow importing 'special characters'. Purchase of a 3-hour 'Advanced Accounting Support Block' is required for implementation assistance and ongoing support.

Pro Link to external accounting applications

Artsystems Pro integration with external accounting applications such as QuickBooks Pro for Windows is available with Version 3.0.21 (QuickBooks Pro for Mac does not receive full data import, and is not feasible). Purchase of a 3-hour 'Advanced Accounting Support Block' is required for implementation assistance and ongoing support.

Active Software Support subscription, and broadband (DSL, Cable, or fractional T1) Internet connection are required. Pre-cloud (current) version of Web Manager requires Microsoft Excel.
